Case Study: Publishing

A titan of British industry publishes his long-awaited autobiography

The Challenge

To assist Lord Browne of Madingley – arguably Britain’s greatest businessman – in making a return to public life after a decade of self-imposed exile.

Strategy and Tactics

We helped Lord Browne to hone and polish his autobiography ‘Beyond Business’, before embarking on a media campaign to build his brand around the publication of the book; the focal point was the Financial Times’s ‘Lunch with the FT’.

By leveraging relationships in politics, business and culture Lord Browne was able to reassert himself as a visionary leader with a great deal to offer.

The Outcome

Lord Browne’s return to public life in Britain was a triumph. The most anticipated business biography in a decade was well received and Lord Browne was ultimately appointed by the Cabinet Office Secretary to be Lead non-Executive Director across Whitehall.

The Bottom Line

Words matter and choosing the right ones, whether in an autobiography or a media interview can make all the difference to your personal brand.
